A teacher CPD session, delivered by the National Gallery, at the museum.
Thursday 7 November
This is a teacher CPD session at South Shields Museum and Art Gallery on Thursday 7 November, 1.30-3.45pm. This session is ran by the National Gallery.
The National Gallery is offering a range of free activities as part of the Art Road Trip, centred on its two key national learning programmes: Take One Picture—for primary schools—and Articulation—for secondary schools.
Take One Picture is the Gallery’s national programme for primary schools. This session, based at South Shields Museum & Art Gallery, aims to put art at the centre of children’s learning across the curriculum, inspiring a lifelong connection with artists’ work, museums and galleries.
This CPD taster session offers teachers the opportunity to:
• Learn about the programme and facilitating child-led, cross-curricular projects
• Explore paintings in the National Gallery’s collection
• Investigate strategies for engaging children with paintings, such as looking, drawing and storytelling
• Use paintings to develop children’s visual literacy, enquiry and oracy skills
Participants: Primary school teachers from across all subjects.
Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
All other resources will be provided including follow-up teachers’ packs.
