The South Shields Museum & Art Gallery Learning Team will visit your class or assembly to show your pupils the Mezzotint Print of J. M. W. Turner's Shields, on the River Tyne.

This school visit is inspired by our current exhibition Shields, on the River Tyne. This exhibition spotlights a mezzotint print of J.M.W. Turner’s iconic watercolour, Shields, on the River Tyne, giving an insight into the South Shields riverside area in the early nineteenth century through the eyes of one of Britain’s most celebrated artists.

Our in school visits are suitable for a whole school assembly or classroom. These visits give teachers an idea of how South Shields Museum and Art Gallery can support your children's learning through our collections and exhibitions as well as provide a fun and engaging time for children. You can view all of our School Workshops here.
