**Please note this experience is located at The Word Library**

Sensory Journeys: Journey to the Cornfield in the ground floor pod at The Word, is a unique inclusive sensory experience combining storytelling, sound effects, and play. Sensory Journeys: Journey to the Cornfield is part of South Shields Museum & Art Gallery’s digital sensory stories programme, Sensory Journeys: Bringing stories to life with your help.

The installation encourages visitors to use all of their senses - sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing. It is especially suited for those with special or profound multiple learning difficulties.

In June 2023, The National Gallery partnered with South Shields Museum and Art Gallery to bring John Constable, The Cornfield (1826) to South Tyneside’s Viking shopping centre in Jarrow.

Explore the Sensory Journeys webpage to discover fascinating objects and art from the museum’s collections that support the stories. There are lots of fun sensory and creative activities to take part in too, explore now.
