Come and discover the story of South Tyneside's own local hero - John Simpson Kirkpatrick and his famous donkey, and of how an ordinary man became an extraordinary international hero.
This interactive story-based session will explore the roles of people and animals using storytelling, role play, and talk for writing.
Children explore ideas of remembrance and what it means to be a hero. They will then have time in our art studio to reflect and take part in a creative response in the form of creating their own portraits of a personal hero or medal of honour that reflects the themes discussed.
